NLT Spine’s PROW FUSION™ implant

NLT Spine

A client brought us a device he had created for use in spinal fusion surgery. Inserted directly into the spine via a small delivery tube, the device ingeniously closes into a small loop so as to facilitate a minimally invasive spinal surgery (MISS) fusion procedure.

The idea was strong and innovative and we were excited to patent it, knowing it would be game changing. During the process, the inventor raised many additional ideas and variations, all of which we incorporated into an ever-expanding application. Over the subsequent years, as the needs of the company grew and became clearer, strategic decisions were made to maximize the IP from this original application, resulting in a patent family of 10 US patents, 3 European patents and 3 Japanese patents, along with patents in a list of other countries.

This patent family became a key part of the company’s overall patent portfolio of over 100 patents and patent applications, enabling our client to establish multi-faceted projection for their products and a strong position against their competition.
